Why Sleep for All Matters

Aug 29, 2026

Sleep is one of the foundations of good health, yet millions of people struggle to get the rest they need. While sleep is often seen as a personal responsibility, the reality is that access to healthy sleep is influenced by many factors, including health conditions, work patterns, caring responsibilities, housing, income and education. That’s why the Sleep for All Conference exists.

Sleep affects every aspect of our lives. It supports our physical health, mental wellbeing, learning, productivity and relationships. When sleep is poor, the impact can be far-reaching, affecting individuals, families, workplaces and communities. Despite this, sleep is still too often overlooked in conversations about health and wellbeing.

The Sleep for All Conference brings together experts, healthcare professionals, researchers, employers, educators, charities and people with lived experience to explore how we can create a society where everyone has the opportunity to achieve healthy sleep.

Our aim is to encourage collaboration, share evidence-based knowledge and highlight practical solutions that can make a real difference. From addressing sleep inequalities and supporting vulnerable groups to exploring the latest research and innovations, the conference provides a platform for meaningful discussion and action.

At its heart, Sleep for All is about recognising that sleep is not a luxury. It is a basic human need and an essential part of overall health. By working together across different sectors, we can raise awareness of the importance of sleep and help ensure that support, information and interventions are accessible to all who need them.

We believe that by putting sleep higher on the public health agenda, we can help improve health outcomes, wellbeing and quality of life for everyone. Together, we can build a future where healthy sleep is within reach for all
